DAY BY DAY ACTIVITIES:
DAY 1: ARUSHA – MACHAME GATE
After breakfast meet the Machame Route climbing crew and be transferred to Machame gate for registration. Interestingly we start hiking at 1800 meters above sea level through the Rain forest. We arrive at Machame camp in early evening, relax, dinner and overnight.
– Hiking distance 5 – 7 hours.
– Stay 2950 meters above sea level.
DAY 2: MACHAME CAMP – SHIRA CAMP.
Early morning enjoy breakfast, our Machame route climbing take us through the Moorland. We break for picnic lunches and continue to arrive at Shira Camp in the evening.
– Hiking distance 5 – 6 hours
– Stay at 3850 meters above sea level.
DAY 3:SHIRA CAMP – LAVA TOWER – BARRANCO CAMP.
Immediately after breakfast we hike to Lava tower which is 4630 meters above the sea level for acclimatization. Then continue to Barranco camp for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
– Hiking distance 7 – 8 hours
– Stay at 3950 meters above sea level.
DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP – BARAFU CAMP.
The Machame Route Climbing hike takes us to Barranco wall and descend to Karanga Camp{4035m}. After lunch we continue to Barafu camp early enough as you will require to sleep early.
– Hiking distance 8 – 10 hours
– Stay at 4600 meters above sea level.
DAY 5: BARAFU CAMP – SUMMIT UHURU PEAK – MWEKA CAMP.
Our day starts immediately after midnight attempting the summit. By day break we will hit the summit 5895 meters above the sea level. Celebrate the sunrise and the views from all directions. Take great pictures and later we descend to Mweka Camp, relax dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: MWEKA CAMP – MACHAME GATE – ARUSHA.
Breakfast at Mweka Camp{3100 meters} then descend to Machame gate for certificate of completion and transfer to Arusha where the Machame route climbing will end.
